Practitioner terms

Independent practitioner responsibilities

Practitioners are independent providers responsible for lawful operation, accurate listings, taxes, compliance, claims, pricing, availability, session access, and conduct.

Marketplace-introduced clients stay on-platform for communication, rescheduling, booking, payment, follow-up, and rebooking. Agreed time changes stay on the original Aligned booking record unless policy, applicable law, or an agreement recorded through Aligned requires another outcome.

Practitioner obligations

  • Practitioners, mentors, and trainees must be 18 or older and must be available in Canada or the United States for launch.
  • Most practitioner applications are reviewed within 1-2 weeks, though some may be completed sooner.
  • Practitioners must keep profile details, services, prices, currency, availability, refund policy, session access, and client-facing claims accurate.
  • Practitioners must complete identity/profile review, accept the practitioner agreement and ethics/code of conduct, complete Stripe payout setup, and complete session access setup before going live.
  • Practitioners must not represent spiritual services as guaranteed professional, medical, mental health, legal, financial, crisis, emergency, or regulated advice.
  • Bookings, payments, client communication, follow-up, rebooking, and reviews for Aligned-discovered relationships must stay on-platform.

Payments, taxes, and moderation

  • Practitioners are responsible for taxes, licenses, legal compliance, insurance where applicable, and the accuracy of payout/bank information submitted to Stripe.
  • Aligned may use Stripe Connect for payments and payouts, and may restrict booking, payment, payout, listing, or account activity where available through Aligned or Stripe for safety, legal, fraud, chargeback, policy, or trust reasons.
  • Private ID verification is not public and is used for trust, safety, compliance, support, and admin review.

Tax, business, and payment compliance

  • Aligned does not provide tax, accounting, legal, licensing, insurance, or business advice.
  • Practitioners are responsible for business registration, licensing, tax collection/remittance/reporting, insurance where applicable, and compliance with local laws.
  • Aligned may provide transaction records, but these are not tax advice. Practitioners should consult qualified professionals.
  • Stripe Connect status controls payout readiness, and practitioners are responsible for accurate banking, tax, and payment account information.

Photo, video, ID, and media rules

  • Required public profile photos must be real photos of the practitioner where required; logos, stock images, AI-generated images, scenery, pets, group images, or misleading images are not acceptable for required identity/profile photos.
  • Public profile photos may be compared to private ID for admin trust/safety verification. ID documents are private and not shown publicly.
  • Intro clips and mentor teaching videos may be reviewed, approved, rejected, hidden, or removed.
  • Users must have consent from anyone appearing in uploaded media, and Aligned may remove media that is misleading, unsafe, infringing, non-consensual, explicit, discriminatory, fraudulent, or policy-violating.
